FAQ

If you have any more questions after reading this page, just go ahead and comment. I’ll be sure to add a response asap.

1. May I translate your scanlations into other languages?

This question is, by far, the most common one I receive. If you’ll look through the announcements on the front page, you probably won’t have any problem finding a post that says “Please, do not use my translations to translate the chapters into a different language!” But since then, my opinion’s kinda changed a bit, so go right ahead; if you’d like to translate something I’ve translated into another language, knock yourself out. Just be sure to link back here and properly credit, alright? =3 Be sure to drop me a line so I can add you to my (currently nonexistant) links page as well.

2. (On the topic of scans) Why is it that I can see the text bubble from page one on that guy on page 2’s face?

My biggest, biggest, pet peeve is bleed-through on raws; instances where the scans pick up features of the previous pages because the page itself is too thin. An easy way to solve this is to place a piece of black paper behind a page when you’re scanning it. Voila! Crisp whites. =3

3. When is the next chapter of XXXX coming out?

Remember when I said the “Can I translate your translations?” line was the most common one I’ve heard? Woops, I lied. Hey, it’s an honest mistake! The “When is XXXX coming out?” line’s a given. =3
Anyway, the release dates rely on when the next chapter comes out in whatever magazine it’s serialized in. For instance, the new Neon Genesis Evangelion Academy manga comes out once a month. If you don’t know exactly when a new chapter of your favorite series comes out, just look at the page count! Typically, weekly publications will have about 12-14 pages, while monthly releases usually have 24+. Ain’t it graaand?

4. Can we host your scanlations on our site?

Quickly rising the ranks as my #1 most frequently-asked question. While I appreciate the thought, Melly and I shell out some pretty big dough (okay, about $150 a year) in bandwidth and hosting fees, and we’d really rather see our bandwidth put to good use. That said, we’d appreciate it if you didn’t. Really. (The only sites I’m relatively okay with seeing our stuff on is onemanga.com and mangafox. That’s about it.) I might give you a chance if you ask BEFORE putting our projects up for download, but putting them up for download and then asking is just plain cocky. Don’t do it. That changes your 25% chance to a 0% chance, and 0% is NO CHANCE. (And before you come back with a witty retort, no, you’re not a member of the Gurren-dan. 0% =/= 100% to you. =P)

And that’s all the questions we have for today, folks! Drop me a line if there’s anything else you’d like to know.
